Why to Disable a Kiln Sitter?

It is best to disable the kiln sitter if you are intending to use digital control. For the most part all the sitter can do once you have a digital controller is to cause a kiln load batch to be ruined by going off at the wrong time. You can program digitally anything you would have previously done with a kiln sitter.

How to Disable a Kiln Sitter?

This is easy to do........This is how I did it with my Duncan kiln. UNPLUG THE KILN. REMOVE THE POWER TO THE KILN. Unbolt the box from the kiln and find there the sitter is. There should be two wires going to the sitter. Unscrew a wire from one side of the sitter and reattach in on the other side on the same terminal as the other wire. Now the sitter should be nonfunctional. You should test your kiln to make sure it turns on. Plug it in and turn it on. You should almost immediately feel the radiant heat from the heating coils. If you do then all is well. If not then you should recheck your work or have a friend check your work.
